How we allocate our homes
Your guide to our Allocations Policy and Online Application Booklet, explains our Allocations policy, the way in which we allocate our homes, what size of house you will qualify for and how to apply for a Glen Oaks home. It also details what to do if you are unhappy with the band allocated to you or the housing you have been offered.
To maximise your chances of being rehoused, you should apply to as many housing associations as possible. A list of associations across Glasgow can be found here: https://www.glasgow.gov.uk/housingassociations
We cannot guarantee to rehouse you, nor can we provide an estimate on how long you will wait for an offer of housing.
Please note that we do not provide emergency accommodation, nor do we have immediately available properties. If you are homeless or are threatened with homelessness, you must contact Glasgow City Council. Their details can be found here: https://www.glasgow.gov.uk/homelessness
Once your application is submitted
Due to the reopening of the waiting list, there may be a high number of applications and some delays.
What happens after you apply
You will not be regularly contacted unless we are considering you for an offer or if we are carrying out an annual review of the waiting list. Additionally, as our waiting lists change daily, we cannot provide you with your position on the waiting list queue. Please read our frequently asked questions section below.
Frequently asked questions
We ask questions on our Application Form which allows us to carry out an assessment of your circumstances. This assessment looks at things like the number of bedrooms you have, whether you have any medical conditions relating to your current housing or whether you are under any threat of being made homeless. Based on the information you have provided, your application will be given pointsallocated a band which indicate the level of priority your application needs. We will e-mail/write to you to confirm the points band awarded to your application.
You will be entitled to a specific number of bedrooms based on the size and ages of the people who will be moving with you. You can choose as many property types and as many areas as you wish although some property types, e.g. amenity or wheelchair users properties are designated for people with a particular need. We woiuld recommend you choose as many as possible to help to increase your chances of being match to an available property.
We aim to complete our assessment within around 15 working days, provided all the required information has been supplied. There may be a delay due to the reopening of the waiting list and a higher level of applications being received at once.
In the Application Form we ask you to complete a Medical Self-Assessment if your condition is affected by your current housing. When we assess this, we look at the information you have provided us with and how a move would help the medical condition. If we are unsure about any of the information, we do ask that you consent to us seeking further information from a specialist dealing with you or from an independent doctor.
Due to being unable to forecast when properties will become available, we are unable to state how long you will wait before we are able to consider you for rehousing.
We don’t have a limit on the number of offers you will receive. However we will record reasons for refusal and aim to offer you a property to suit your needs. If however you are assessed as homeless by Glasgow City Council and the Association are asked to rehouse you – in accordance with GCC’s homelessness regulations we will only be able to make you one offer whilst you are being given priority as a homeless applicant.
If you move home, you have to submit a new Application Form and we will cancel your previous application with us. We will then assess your circumstances based on your new address. If other circumstances change, you should contact us to advise us what the change is. We will then review your application and confirm how this change affects your application.
You can contact lettings team on lettings@glenoaks.org.uk or call 0141 638 0999 (option 4).
We let our homes in line with our Allocations Policy, based on each applicant’s individual circumstances and needs.
